Friday 10 December 2010 began
Actually my trip to Toledo and Salamanca in already in the early hours of Friday. Since we wanted to depart on Friday at 4 clock in the morning, I had made up my mind to go through the night to sleep because of the short time does not pay. But what to do with time? I had actually made to work, but was missing at 1:30 at night to me then but the motivation. Conveniently, was my roommate Juan Paulo still awake and we decided spontaneously to sing Christmas carols. He showed me English Christmas songs on Youtube and I showed him German Christmas songs. My favorite: ". It is a time for us arrived" "Campanas de Belén," his favorite
At half past four, I then walked with my huge suitcase through Murcia. The town was full, after all, go all the way Studis Thursdays, Fridays because they drive home. I had the big red suitcase, with the end of August, I have come to Murcia. This case is really great, because after all I have is the 20 kilos of luggage transported for six months.
"Püntklich" At twenty past vier clock we drove - 60 Erasmus tired people who just came in part from the party. At half past 9 am we were in Toledo. It was cold (we are, after all, from Murcia in the south!) And foggy. We had a little time, began to lead our city, and takes a break at the bus station Toledo. Actually wanted to Maren from Kiel and I only drink a cup of coffee, which turned out to be extremely difficult. First, we have not found the reception from the bus station and when we finally were there, the cafés were closed. It was too early for Spain!
We got back on the bus and headed to the city leadership. First, we took an escalator to a Hill and had a beautiful view over the city - even if it was very foggy. The streets of this mountain were all really tight, hilly and beautiful! We have seen many beautiful houses and then went to the Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes ". There was a beautiful chapel with great pride, a Jesus figure was worn in the procession during Semana Santa by Toledo. There was also a courtyard with orange trees - and in the far north!
Then we went to a place from which there was a wonderful view!
After the tour, walked Maren and I went through the city. There was a lot of pottery and crafts.
There was also a "nun's Cafe, which had transposed the theme in the shop window!
The specialty of the town is marzipan. There is in Toledo in all variations!
As the Cathedral 7 € (!) Admission cost, we decided not to visit them. Instead, we rummaged through the stores and found a small Italian ice cream parlor with a great view over the city! The owner was very pleased with our customers and decorated cappuccinos with smiley faces and pretty patterns. Therefore, we also drank four cappuccinos.
After looking at the international meeting place for Mc Donald's had met, we went on to Salamanca. Once there, we moved into our room at the hostel. Our room had the name "Plaza Mayor".
Maybe it was because the room was equipped with 10 bunk beds - that twenty people in a bedroom in the basement! My mother commented that that would be all used to be like her. I'm pretty sure it's in the youth hostels in Germany, no dormitories with 20 beds anymore. I sleep often in gyms with 200 people, but with 20 people I last slept in a youth camp in Verona. Maren and I are so safe a bunk bed at the basement window and taught us something.
Then we went on Schlüren " even if I only had to explain Maren, what I really meant it. Is the Westphalian? The city was very close to the hostel and the streets were decorated with really nice lights! On the way to downtown, I saw a poster announcing a concert by children from Salamanca - by 19 clock in the Plaza Mayor. Since we wanted out anyway! When we were there, we were impressed. The place was beautiful, huge and fantastic with so much light! A stage was built and there were already many people around it. But we could still see well, German size is thanks!
We stood for an hour in the northern cold and listened to the children and it was really great! There were a lot of different choirs with children of different ages, the English Christmas carols are sung. Good thing I practiced the night before.
On the way back to the hostel we were in town for an ERASMUS-Café! The photograph I had of course! If it knew what happened to him and his name has become a movement!
Maren and I were so tired because we had not slept the night before that we decided not to leave Friday. According to Maren, the other probably as returned against 4 or 5 clock, but I just kept sleeping. In addition, well someone has fallen out of bed, but I was so tired that I missed nothing. Saturday was then I slept right!
Saturday 11 December 2010
On Saturday we had a guided tour of Salamanca. We visited the House of Shells (Casa de las Conchas), in which a public library is housed. I was very excited because this house was a picture on the front page of my English Paper Línea Uno ".
Then we visited the university, first from the outside. The University is the oldest university in Spain. She is very beautiful! There is a great relief that also has a frog can be seen. However, the need to look long. Legend has it that a student who finds the frog without help, in his study of success - and learn without!
We had not had that success, but we did not make it, the frog . See The guide we had to describe it show several times. He sits hidden on a skull. Well, fortunately he does anyway! Therefore, I have bought a lot in the tourist-shop Frog kitsch. Maren said, the figure of the frog with Mortar Board had not been so desperately needed, but they just had to be. It stands now as motivation on my desk.
A shop on the Plaza Mayor, incidentally, was very international:
then we have looked at the old cathedral. What is special is that it is on the facade also an astronaut and a monkey of an ice cream eating, see there. These figures were added later. The astronaut as a symbol for an exhibition.
in Salamanca was not only sunshine, but also true Christmas spirit, as we see in these young men who have made Christmas music.
afternoon we went for a walk to river. We were very pleased Murcian right, because in Salamanca was just the fall (in December). Anyone who has read my report Burgos, may remember my enthusiasm for trees and leaves? Yes, just the enthusiasm we had Murcianas in Salamanca. "Look at the Sheets! "" This smells like autumn, "There was pretty cold, but I had hat, scarf and gloves and everything could really use.
then have Maren and I made our way to see the old University of Salamanca from within. There was a lecture hall, which looked just as before. We were shocked, because this must have been terribly uncomfortable!
Otherwise, there were many conference rooms that are still used and a small church, but must marry the only people who studied at the University of Salamanca have. Especially nice was an old library, which is still used today, but from individuals. But at least we could look inside!
After that, we wanted something to eat German dinner time by 18 clock. Yes, dinner! So we were breads with "Pan's & Company" and ate baked. We wondered what we could look at us and spread out our huge maps. A minute later there were two Salamantinos (people from Salamanca really hot! Even funnier than Vallisoletanos from Valladolid ;-)) before us, to have a summer house in Murcia. They wanted to know if they can help us. Yes, they could. With program suggestions! The couple then talked at us and convinced us that we absolutely should climb the tower of the old cathedral, because that would be beautiful in the twilight now! So we made this
The view was fantastic!
We then went from the old cathedral by a narrow corridor in the new cathedral. There was no one and it was totally dark! Very scary, but beautiful.
On Saturday evening we were with the other 60 Erasmus people in the bar "La Dolce Vita." Before we arrived it was empty when we were there, the place was full. Probably why we got so many free drinks. At the entrance of each also had received a small bag with a kind of "Jelly Belly". We had to midnight every stroke of eating one. Since I've been practicing ever for New Year. Then eat namely twelve grapes, one for each chime and for each month of next year one. "It brings good luck," says my roommate Vanessa.
Sunday 12 December 2010
On Sunday morning we made a Walk to the Cave of Salamanca. From the cave, however, was but a few walls not much left. Legend has it there, but the devil teaches the students in black magic! Very interesting! Next to the cave was a tower, you could climb for free. So we ran up and enjoyed the view of Salamanca.
Then we walked towards the city and came across a beautiful little garden that lay next to a hostel for pilgrims, the "Huerto de Calixto y Melibea." Said Maren, that we are dealing with a love story, it had about it at the University of Mucia said. The garden was also very romantic, especially a well, to the very many padlocks hung with declarations of love. Almost like in Cologne!
came after eight hours we have to clock up 22 in Murcia. My third home!
Conclusion: Toledo and Salamanca are beautiful cities!
